How many students attend SVAE?

Are students expected to be Adventist?

No, as a Christian community we welcome families from many different denominations. Our goal is to encourage all students to have a personal relationship with Christ as their Savior and to develop morals and virtues grounded in Scripture.

What is the ethnic diversity of the student body?

SVAE has students from a variety of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. We are committed to developing a diverse school community.

Are Adventist schools accredited? Do they provide as complete an education as other public or private schools?

Every Adventist school is accredited by a state or national accrediting body. In addition, the church office of education also operates a comprehensive accrediting process to maintain a high standard of excellence in all Adventist schools.  We think you’ll find, as an ongoing study is finding, that on average Adventist schools are better places to learn than any other.

What hours is the school in session?

Students in grades K-8th are in school Monday through Thursday 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., and from 8:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

How much religious instruction do the students receive?

We incorporate Christian values throughout the curriculum and a sense of service and responsibility throughout the school day. Classes begin with a time of worship that includes a devotional and prayer time. Bible is taught on a daily basis with a curriculum developed by an Adventist publisher. Chapel is held every Friday morning for the whole school. A week of prayer is held twice a year in which different scriptural themes are taught and discussed, and students are paired with a prayer buddy for the week.

Do students wear uniforms?

Rather than requiring uniforms, SVAE has a dress code policy. One day a month is set aside as a “casual day,” when parts of the dress code are relaxed for the day.

Does SVAE provide hot lunches?

Students may bring their own lunches or order a hot lunch Monday through Friday.

Does the school offer an aftercare program?

Yes, SVAE offers an aftercare program Monday through Friday. The aftercare program is provided to SVAE students for academic support and enrichment activities. An aftercare packet of information is available in the school office.

What schools do SVAE graduates attend upon completing 8th grade?
