Teachers possess the skills to teach, the compassion to nurture, and the creativity to make the academic challenge a road to discovery. We utilize a blend of strong academics combined with opportunities for individual social and spiritual growth.
Leadership skills are encouraged at all levels particularly through Student Government, “Good News 101” our service and ministry program, and “You, Me, We” our mentoring program that allows our upper grades to mentor and socialize with the lower grades.
As a Christian school, spirituality is incorporated into most aspects of daily life at SVAE. From music, to our choices in library books, to our teachers, to our prayer time each morning, we encourage our students to have a personal relationship with God.
According to a recent independent survey, SVAE ranked in the 98th percentile nationally in parent satisfaction out of over 500 faith-based schools throughout the nation.
Technology is integrated into all classes starting in Pre-K. Classroom instruction and activities reinforce student learning.
Our social studies program incorporates history, geography, sociology, Biblical history, and political science.
Our daily physical education classes assists in developing self-esteem, coordination, and team cohesiveness as well as individual goals. We believe the body is the temple of God and we try to honor it through our P.E. classes, recess schedule, and hot lunch program.
Art instruction takes place once a week and introduces our students to basic visual art principles, elements, vocabulary, and history through drawing, painting, ceramics, pottery, and other media.
Passion for Learning
We are fortunate to admit many students who are blessed witha strong intellect. We are committed to fostering a passion for life-long learning in students who possess a strong will and an outstanding determination to overcome educational obstacles.
We encourage our students to be good stewards of the Earth. Our upper grades take part in cleaning up along the highway and the river, while our whole school attempts to reduce our trash by reducing, reusing, and recycling. Through volunteer gardening and our hot lunch program, we encourage the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables. Our P.E. and recess times take place outdoors as weather and subject permits.
We have a diverse music program at SVAE. Upper grades participate in band and choir and gather with hundreds of students each year for a music festival. Students in grades 6-8 can also audition for our handbell ensemble. Lower grades meet twice a week and learn music appreciation and theory through listening, singing, movement, playing instruments, and formal instruction. In addition, private lessons are available for piano and violin.
Affording an independent Christian education can be an expensive proposition for many families. SVAE has a lean administration team and endeavors to control costs so that we are able to keep tuition at a rate that is attainable for all. We also offer scholarships and financial aid. Our parents state that the education their children receive, combined with the Christian values and morals that are exemplified, make it seem they can’t afford to send their children to any other school.
